Music of Glenn Miller

Featuring the Tex Beneke Orchestra

One of the most popular big bands of the World War II era, the Glenn Miller Orchestra  featured Tex Beneke on songs such as Chattanooga Choo Choo, I Got A Gal in Kalamazoo, and Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree.  Following Miller's death the demand for the Miller sound was bigger than ever and Beneke was asked my Miller’s widow to lead the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.  Playing the music made famous by Glenn Miller, such as In the Mood, String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug, Tuxedo Junction, and Pennsylvania 65000, the Tex Beneke Orchestra continued to play throughout the years.

Today the Tex Beneke Orchestra is lead by Jim Snodgrass.  Having played with Harry James, Benny Goodman, and Nelson Riddle Orchestras, Snodgrass is an effective and energetic spokesperson for the music of the Swing Era. Before leading the band, he performed with the Tex Beneke Orchestra for five years. Today he and the orchestra have been performing in venues across the country.

Further hits with Miller soon followed, including Chattanooga Choo Choo, Kalamazoo, I Know Why, and Juke Box Saturday Night.  Frank Sinatra handpicked the Modernaires in 1950 to sing back up for him and continued to record and perform with him through the years.

After Lollipop they released a more hits including Zorro, No Other Arms, No Other Lips, and Never on Sunday.
